The Aptos blockchain reached a milestone in its history, processing over 95 million in a single day. According to data provided by Artemis, a blockchain statistics platform, the number broke an L1 industry record on May 24, pushed by the tap to earn game Tapos, in which each tap or click constitutes a transaction.
Aptos Reaches Milestone: Registers 95.6 Million Transactions per Day on May 24
More and more blockchains are focusing on testing their scaling limits. Aptos, a blockchain project, recently reached a scaling milestone, managing to sustain and process over 95 million daily transactions. According to data provided by Artemis, a blockchain statistics terminal, Aptos registered 95.6 million transactions on May 24.
The platform remarked that this had broken an industry record for most transactions registered by an L1 platform, beating the last record set by SUI by over 50%. However, some X users challenged this fact, stating that Hedera had registered over 250 million transactions on December 13, 2023.
The Aptos transaction surge was fueled by Tapos, a tap-to-earn game where users deposit APT and tap to tickle a cat. Each tap is registered as a single transaction in the game, stressing the network in real time with these tickle actions.
The low fees paid for each transaction allow this kind of game to be built on top of Aptos. Each tap (or tickle) was estimated to cost 0.000008 APT ($0.00007).
During a special campaign, the game registered over 323 million transactions from over 63,000 unique accounts. Tapos players were rewarded with HEART tokens for their tickling actions. Sui, the blockchain holding the previous record, also harnessed a game called SUI 8192 to register 65.8 million daily transactions on August 2023.
These effects highlight the relevance of games and rewards as a tool for bringing users to support stress test operations. Recently, a similar stress test initiative harnessed the Sui network to issue a spam token, registering over 41 million daily transactions.
